Patthu Patthu Movie Review

A suspense tale, the story is about Subbu (Thalaivasal Vijay) who is a very talented and gifted film maker but then he suffers from one major drawback, his anger. The short tempered nature of Subbu earns him a lot of enemies and his emotional outbursts send his crew members and sometimes even innocent passers by into a panic mode.

While his regular tiffs with strangers keep continuing, the whole thing takes a turn when Subbu is found murdered brutally and is packed in a suitcase, his body is left in front of a lawyer's house. Subbu is married and his wife (Sona) is a major sex freak. She is more like a nymphomaniac and wants to explore various forms of sexual pleasures. Just a day before the murder, Subbu witnesses a very shameful situation where he sees his wife pleading with a man who is about half her age to quench her desires.

She is also aware that Subbu has knowledge of her behaviour but then she does not talk about it, this incident enrages Subbu who goes out into the street and as fate would have it he picks up a quarrel with the local goon over there. Added to this, Subbu's wife decides to put an end to his interference and starts planning to kill him. On the other hand, there is a thief who is present during the incident of the murder. With so many possible suspects, in comes the investigating officer (Bose Venkat) who starts unraveling the mystery. What happens from there? Who is the killer? All this forms the rest of the story.

The movie was meant to be a major murder mystery treat but then it turned out to be more of a soft porn flick. While the first half was good and had its points of shock and impact, the introduction of the sexual desire angle started changing the whole stream and focus. At one point, the maker was keener on oozing out glamour and providing sex appeal to the viewer without focusing on the stitching of the plot correctly and come out with a good chilling treat. The idea of having a sexual angle is good but it must be provided in the right dose along with suspense then it is worth enjoying and relishing.

The director ahs come out with an interesting plot but then his presentation and narration were not upto the mark as his focus seemed to be not on the subject but more on the glamour. The script was alright, screenplay was weak, the editing could have been better, not much happened from music and the camera departments. The dialogues were shoddily written and there was not much the other departments could do to make the film a better one. Thalaivasal Vijay has come up with an excellent performance and showed the right amount of anger and intensity with his role, equally good was Bose Venkat as the investigator and he looked cool and analytical, Sona was sexy and gave an uninhibited visual treat like the director wanted and sometimes overdid it too.

Less suspense and more sex appeal.
